They omit the words "Brooks, Shoobridge & Co" (the name of a private firm to which this Company succeeded, but which we have not altered on our label), but instead, and in the same position, they print the words "Made
in Italy".
Now it appears to us fair to say that the label complained of is a colorable imitation of our label, deliberately intended to deceive
the buyer in China. For years our Cement has been commonly known as
the "Anchor Brand" Cement.. The Cement complained of, which we are told is of inferior quality-, is offered in the China market as "An- chor Brand", and has been bought largely under the belief that it was
ours, and to the risk of our reputation by reason of its inferior qual-
ity.
Under the words of the "Notification" which we have underlined in
red ink, it would seem to us that the importer of this cement cannot be
interfered with, he having printed on his label the words "Made in Italy
We would not suggest for one moment the adoption of any reasures to interfere with honest trade, nor do we desire any preferential treat- ment in Customs charges in Hong Kong, but we would respectfully suggest,
